Training Courses

As part of the NCB we can offer cost-effective tailored training covering all aspects of children's issues.  Courses are delivered to venue of your choice, to a timescale that suits your organisation's requirements and can be tailored to meet specific your needs.

Current courses include:

1. Sex Education Forum/NCB: 
Facilitator training - Outside the Box


Outside the Box is a personal development programme about sex and relationships for young people that aims to prevent sexual exploitation. It is specifically targeted at vulnerable young people and has been developed by the Sex Education Forum and National Children’s Bureau through funding from Comic Relief

Details

  • This course is only for those with experience of working with vulnerable young people, for example specialist nurses, residential care workers, teachers and non-teaching staff in schools
  • Cost for 2-day facilitator training course is £375* per delegate (*+ booking fee)
  • Dates for our 2-day training course will be in March and April 2016 and will be advertised shortly, they will run in London and the North East.

2. NCB - Health and Social Care:
Practitioner training for those working with troubled families with complex problems such as parental substance misuse and parental mental health problems.

The National Children’s Bureau Health and Social Care Team has developed 3 courses to support practitioners working with families affected by complex problems such as parental substance misuse and parental mental health problems.

These courses have been developed to:

  • Increase skills and confidence in analysis and judgement making.
  • Explore approaches to strengthen assessment practice.
  • Keep the needs of children central to assessment to effect positive change.

These courses are for social workers, early help workers and those who work with troubled families, (including troubled families’ case workers; targeted youth support staff, health and education workers).

  • Courses can be commissioned individually or as part of a package.
