Change models - model descriptions

The models and frameworks selected for this overview can be grouped according to their purpose and use:

• Some provide a series of steps or a process to help make change happen: Action Research; Appreciative Inquiry; Kotter’s 8 step model; Managing Transitions; School remodelling; Transformational change; Improvement Model (PDSA)
• Others are performance improvement approaches that can be used to diagnose what needs to change and present a framework in which the impact of change can be tracked: 7-S Model; Congruence model; Balanced Scorecard; EFQM Excellence model
• The final group are approaches to leading and managing organisations that have change and improved practice inherent within them: Learning Organisation; Public Service Improvement framework; Outcomes Based Accountability; Whole Systems Working
